Endorsed by Council in May 2025, the refreshed Practice Tip PT.7, Professional Opinion – Independent Option – Reviewing a Project Prepared by Another Holder, provides guidance to practices providing review of the services already provided to the client of another practice.  

Practice Tip PT.07 needed to be reviewed against the recently updated Regulatory Notice RN.10, Professional & Independent Opinion, to ensure the documents were consistent. The OAA Practice Resources Committee and the Office of the Registrar provided review and input on the updates; their comments were incorporated into the document, along with the completion of minor editorial changes. 

The key changes include: 

• general updates, such as replacing use of the term “architect” with “certificate of practice holder;” 
• edits to distinguish among the practice providing the services being reviewed, the practice performing the review, and members acting in other roles such as expert witnesses; and
• Updated Reference section. 

Other Updates & Resources on the OAA Website 

Over the next couple of months, other peripheral resources located in the OAA’s Practice Advisory Knowledge Base may be updated to align with the updates to OAA’s Regulatory Notices. Stay tunes for future updates in the OAA Practice Newsletters.
