Awards

The OAA Awards runs on a two-year cycle. It includes the Design Excellence Awards, Best Emerging Practice, and career achievement awards (like the Lifetime Design Achievement and the Medal of Service) in even years (2024, 2026, etc.) alternating with SHIFT Challenge program in odd years. (2025, 2027 etc.)

The SHIFT Architecture Challenge is an aspirational, biennial Ontario Association of Architects program created to highlight the distinct contribution that the architecture profession and architectural thinking bring to addressing key societal issues.

The theme for the SHIFT2025 Challenge is Reshaping Communities and asks the profession to explore how we can develop sustainable solutions that address the challenges posed by climate change and social shifts. The SHIFT 2025  Awards jury determined the winning selections for SHIFT 2025. The OAA has announced the selections and the projects and will be featured on SHIFTChallenge.ca in May. The teams behind the projects will then be celebrated at the SHIFT Challenge event taking place as part of the OAA Conference in Ottawa on May 15, as well as be featured in an upcoming publication.
