The
Recognition Lunch was sold-out and held in the Beanfield Centre. Hosted by author and television/podcasting host
Andrea Bain on May 11, the OAA presented awards for exceptional contributions to the profession.
This year, the recipients were:
•
John van Nostrand, who received the
Order of da Vinci for demonstrating exceptional leadership in the profession, education, and/or in the community;
•
Diarmuid Nash, who received
Lifetime Design Achievement, as an architect with a career-long commitment to the promotion and achievement of architectural design excellence;
•
Camille Mitchell, who received the
G. Randy Roberts Service Award, in recognition of being an OAA member providing extraordinary service to the membership, for ‘behind-the-scenes’ dedication and action, as well as employing the skills and the energy to get things done; and
•
Wayne Medford,
Marta O’Brien, and
Michael Copas, who were named
Honorary Members for their valuable and distinguished service to the architectural profession or for scrupulously upholding the objects of the Association.
The OAA Technology Program announced its Student Award winners:

st place Small Building (Individual): Centennial College student
William Anderson for the Cedarhill Estate project;
• 1
st place Small Building (Group): Humber College students
Usman Zahoor, Alexis Kitchener, and
Jonah Flores for the Aura Laneway Housing project;
• 1
st Large Building (Individual): Centennial College student
Ramy A. Mohammad for the Front Tower project;
• 2
nd place Large Building Individual Category: Humber College student
Ara Chung for the Bedrock Community Center;
• 1
st place Large Building (Group): Mohawk College students
Qui Nguyen, Leila Hosseinzadegan, Anthony Mancini, and Fredie Bianchi for the Princess Point Museum of Nature project.

nd place Large Building Group Category: Algonquin College students
Nathan Charette, Inthujan Jeyachandran, Noah Perreault, Issac Smith for Building of Eden project.
The event also recognizes prominent members of the profession who are posthumously added to the
OAA Honour Roll; this year,
Eberhard Zeidler received this honour, accepted by his wife Jane and daughter Kate.
The Recognition Lunch was kicked off by OAA President Susan Speigel, who gave a special welcome to those
