The Daniels Corporation, the Toronto-based fully integrated developer, has taken a step toward inclusive housing by making its Accessibility Designed Program (ADP) Technical Standards Guide publicly available.
By sharing this guide, Daniels aims to inspire builders, developers, and designers to prioritize accessibility, setting a robust new benchmark for the housing industry.
Originally launched in 2017, the ADP exceeds Ontario Building Code requirements by incorporating “thoughtful features” that enhance livability for people using mobility aids, those with sensory or cognitive impairments, and individuals aiming to age in place. Designed for both in-suites and common areas, the guide outlines comprehensive specifications for such accessible elements as appliances, fixed items and plumbing fixtures, as well as roll-in showers, wider doorways, height-adjusted countertops, grab bars, and braille signage.
Developed in partnership with accessibility advocates and design experts, the ADP represents Daniels’ dedication to innovation and equity. Now available for download, the Technical Standards Guide provides industry professionals with a practical blueprint to implement meaningful change.
