Bruce Lee Fair, Life Member
October 23, 1938—February 10, 2025
Bruce Lee Fair, age 86, passed away on February 10, 2025, at Michael Garron Hospital.
Born on Oct 23, 1938, to Jean and Charles Fair, he was the youngest sibling to Gordie, Isabel, and Donald. He has many cousins that he grew up with, many living in East York, whom he remained close to throughout his life.
He is predeceased by siblings Gordie Fair, Isabel (Don deceased) Fuller & Donald (Fran) Fair, and ex-wife Lorraine Fair. He leaves behind children Heather (Mark) Seniow, Kevin (Anne) Fair, Robyn (Chad) Comfort; grandchildren Chris Seniow, Nicholas Seniow, James Fair and Spencer Comfort; former wife Olha Homonyuk; her children Natasha Khorsandian, Serhiy (Arwen) Homonyuk; and her grandchildren Darius Khorsandian, Cyrus Khorsandian and Tova Homonyuk as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He graduated from East York Collegiate and went on to earn an architecture degree at The University of Toronto. Anyone who knew him has heard the tale of his “admittance”. After failing to get accepted into Engineering, without a backup plan, he went down to campus to ask around if there were any openings available. Architecture had an opening and accepted him without the usual pre-requisites and portfolio. Against all odds, he graduated and had a very successful and fulfilling 55+ year career.
Bruce was almost never without his camera. He photographed or videotaped constantly documenting much of his and his family’s lives so that we could remember all the fun times we had. Many remember him best with a video camera on his shoulder (but because he was only 5’5” most heads were chopped in the videos. Classic Bruce).
He was well travelled. His first job as an architect was while he lived in England in the early 60’s after marrying Lorraine. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe, has visited much of Canada and the US, sailed the British Virgin Islands, vacationed in North Africa and climbed Machu Picchu. He took his children along on business trips across Canada and saved his frequent flyer points to be able to take his family on fun trips together.
But his favourite place was in Muskoka at the Cliffs. He loved the cottage and all his dear Cliffs friends who are still family to us to this day. He was an avid sailor beginning with a Sunfish, advancing to boats of increasing size until his beloved Sweet Pea that graced the Cliff’s waterfront for decades.
Family was everything to Bruce. And it didn’t matter whether you were immediate family, or friends who he treated like family. Bruce was always there for anyone and everyone. He spent countless hours visiting – his siblings, their spouses, his children, their spouses, his beloved grandchildren, his aunts & uncles, his many cousins, nieces and nephews, and his friends who were like family. He spent hours just being there for family and friends on their most difficult days when they were in hospital. He was a quiet, gentle and soft-spoken man who had a huge heart.
Dad, you will be truly missed beyond words. We are so very lucky and blessed to have had you as our dad. We love you and you will forever be in our hearts
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Michael Garron Hospital Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
