SALTER, William Millet,  Life Member

April 3, 1934 – August 7, 2025

On Thursday August 7^th, William Millet Salter of Midhurst, Ontario passed away peacefully at the age of 91, surrounded by family.

Millet will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Nancy; his children: Alison, Lindsay, Greg (Katherine), and Jon; and his grandchildren: Quinn, Bridget, Jordan, Will, and Thomas.

Born and raised in Barrie, Ontario, Millet made countless contributions to his community. He founded Salter and Allison Architects in 1960, WM Salter and Associates in 1985, and Salter Pilon Architecture, a firm that is still active today. He was an internationally recognized pioneer in computer-aided design (CAD) leading to his induction as a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in 1999. He and his lifelong love of architecture will live on through the thousands of buildings he designed during his career, including over 500 schools across Ontario, the Ontario Provincial Police General Headquarters in Orillia (1995), and Royal Victoria Hospital (1997) and Victoria Village (2003) in Barrie.

Millet also gave back to his community through his long tenure in the Rotary Club of Barrie, the Barrie Probus Club, as a past president of the Barrie Minor Hockey Association and an executive member of the Barrie Minor Lacrosse Association.

A private service will be held in accordance with his wishes. A Celebration of Life will also be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Toronto Sick Kids Foundation would be appreciated.
