CBHCC Extends Consultation Period for Embodied GHG Emissions Policy

The Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes (CBHCC) has announced an extension to the consultation period for its draft policy direction on embodied greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in new buildings and houses. The deadline for feedback is now July 21, 2025, at 11:59 pm PDT.

This consultation marks the first phase of the CBHCC’s efforts to address embodied GHG emissions in the National Model Codes, with the feedback shaping the initial technical work for the 2030 Codes.

Stakeholders, industry experts, and the public are encouraged to review the draft policy direction available on the CBHCC website and submit their comments and supportive materials via email to CBHCCSecretary-SecretaireCCHCC@nrc-cnrc.gc.ca.

Submissions will be reviewed by the CBHCC’s federal, provincial, and territorial Working Group on Climate Change Mitigation, which will provide recommendations to the CBHCC.

For further details, consult the CBHCC’s Consultation overview document.
