Palladio

Genre: Documentary | Language: Italian| Subtitles: English

Giacomo Gatti’s documentary Palladio is the clear and refined history of one of Italy’s greatest architectural minds. The film is raw and uninhibited, much like the style of the Venetian Renaissance architect. The documentary is narrated through episodes and dialogues that take place simultaneously in different contexts, but where the common thread is always him: Palladio. His classic style, often considered socially revolutionary, has been studied for years and imitated the world over.

Director:

Giacomo Gatti was born in Milan, where he continues to live and work as a director of films and commercials, a teacher and journalist. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, he was known for his short films shot in 35mm, including La Prova, Il Vuoto, L'Apprendista and 1937. He has collaborated with documentary filmmaker Ermanno Olmi on many projects, including Terra Madre and Rupi del vino. Gatti has presented numerous films at international festivals around the world, including Il Fattore Umano, lo spirito del lavoro, which was screened in Rome in 2018.
