At the 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM), held virtually on May 3, the Association honoured its newest Members of Long Standing—individuals who have reached the milestone of 50 years of membership with the OAA as part of Ontario’s architecture profession. Among recipients this year was Robert Grossman.
Robert joined Adamson in 1966, shortly after earning his Masters in Architecture from Harvard University. His talent was evident from early when he secured second place for Adamson's entry in the 1967 Winnipeg Art Gallery international design competition.
Robert was elevated to Partner at Adamson in 1974, and quickly became the driving force behind many of the firm’s high-profile developments in Toronto over the next two decades, including the North American Life Centre and DuPont's Canadian headquarters. He attributes his success during this era to his ability to build strong connections with local developers, city officials, and contractors, which continue to benefit the firm today.
A Partner in the firm until 2004, Robert continues to lend his expertise to Adamson and its projects as a Special Consultant. His knowledge and experience have contributed to the success of more recent projects like Telus House (25 York), Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, the Mississauga Urban Design Award-winning Waterside Executive Centre, and the development of the Toronto Pearson International Airport New Terminal.
Robert Grossmann's long-standing dedication and ongoing contributions exemplify his enduring commitment to the field of architecture and his significant impact on Adamson's success.
