In the fall of 2021, the OAA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and Truth & Reconciliation Working Group presented 40 recommendations to Council. The final recommendation was a third EDI Roundtable discussion that was held in fall of 2023. The virtual roundtable aimed to foster discussion among architectural practices regarding initiatives and EDI best practices within firms. It was facilitated by EDI consultant Michelle Grocholsky, founder and CEO of Empowered EDI.
The roundtable resulted in the report, “Best Practices for Architectural Firms: Summary of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Roundtable,” reflects the discussion among the participants and outlines best practices, which were supported by the participants and the third party consultant. The report is focused on operational and administrative practices within firms (not within the practice of architecture itself) and is intended as a resource for OAA members and practices.
