I've worked in the architectural industry for over 30 years undertaking various technical, management and leadership roles. This included volunteer work for non-profits targeting affordable housing solutions and community building which I believe the role of architecture is most effective in elevating society's cultural significance and solving deep-rooted societal problems. I previously served as Council member at the OAA (2017-2019). I'm also a technical auditor for TAC (Technical Accreditations Canada) which allows me to overview architectural education and how to prepare next generation architectural professionals for future challenges with advent of AI and new technologies that change current lifestyles and societal norms. I also worked as instructor at various colleges (Durham, Centennial & Georgian colleges) and assistant instructor for the OAA Fundamentals of Running an Architectural Practice which allowed me more insight into the challenges of our profession from a business management standpoint.
I hope to work effectively with the committees (Communications, Education among others) to elevate our role as architects in addressing major challenges such as global warming, environmental sustainability, renewable energy solutions and other advances that enrich our presence as leaders for builders and society at large.
Stabilizing our profession, increasing our fee structure and improving our value-add to projects are on the top of my mind to restore to architects the esteemed role we play as social leaders.
