I am pleased to submit my profile to express my interest in serving as a volunteer administrator on the OAA Council.
I have a keen interest in the position as I'm passionate about architecture, the future of our profession and the governance of organization influencing our day-to-day professional life. Indeed, I have been an architect for 19 years now, an entrepreneur for 11 years and the managing partner for Provencher_Roy’ s Ottawa-Gatineau practice for 6 years.
With Provencher_Roy I was appointed partner in 2020 and have since sat on the Board of the company, which has 350 employees in 4 business locations. My expertise in management is called upon to help shape the company's decision-making and strategic direction.
It is through these past and current experiences that I have developed the required skills to contribute to the governance the OAA as listed below:
- organizational change and development
- strategic planning
- financial literacy and accounting
- investment management
- governance
- legal/risk assessment experience
- technological proficiency
- large practice public projects experience
- private projects experience
- corporate projects experience
- design expertise
- insurance knowledge
With all this experience accumulated over the past 19 years, I'm eager to take on the position and my interests will be:
- implementing the priorities of the OAA's latest strategic plan: the climate emergency and equity, diversity and inclusion politics which will have a major impact on the future of our profession
- actively participate in public discussions about the quality of the built environment to democratize architecture as a common good that elevates the human spirit
- working with other colleagues councillors towards the foundational goals that will be pursued over the coming years: Regulatory Leadership, Governance and Operations, Member Competency, and Public Education
- most of all, contribute to the continuation of our magnificent profession, aligned with the priorities of our time
I am available to attend board meetings and sit on one committee as required. I am ready to be a rigorous fiduciary, and act in the best interests of the public and the organization; place interests of the public and the organization ahead of self- interests; and maintain Council confidentiality.
