Keith Richard Loffler, Architect

Keith Richard Loffler, age 81, passed away, on September 15, 2023, at Toronto General Hospital. He was born in Kapunda, South Australia, on November 30, 1941. He received a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) from the University of Adelaide. He married Edda Muller, a teacher, in 1967, and together they came to Canada in 1969 and lived in Toronto. Keith then completed his Masters of Architecture at the University of Toronto in 1972.
He joined Arthur Erickson Architects in Toronto and was responsible for various projects including The Bank of Canada in Ottawa. He was Executive Design Architect for Roy Thomson Hall Concert Hall in Toronto and Project Director for The Canadian Chancery in Washington, D.C. In 1983, he established Keith Loffler Architect and worked on projects in The Middle East, Poland, and Taiwan. In 2003, he became the founding partner of Keith Loffler McAlpine Architects in Toronto. He was the Design Architect for the acoustically renowned Charles W. Stockey Centre Concert Hall and Bobby Orr Hall of Fame in Parry Sound, Ontario, and most recently has been responsible for numerous residential and commercial projects throughout Ontario together with his partner, John McAlpine.
His passion for architecture was evident to all who knew him. He continued his work in Architecture up until the day of his passing. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Edda; brothers, Don and Brian (Sandy) and their families in Australia. A Celebration of Keith's Life will be taking place at a later date.
