The OAA welcomed more than 500 members of the public through its doors for the first time in more than four years for the annual
Doors Open Toronto event on
May 28 and 29.
Guests were able to explore the main floors of the building at their leisure, where representatives from the OAA and the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA) were available to answer questions about the
Renew+Refresh renovation work completed in 2019 to bring the headquarters to net-zero. Visitors were also able to take guided tours of the building with OAA reps on both days, with Saturday tours led by OAA Building Committee chair, architect
Sheena Sharp, who was instrumental to the execution of the retrofit.
Based on the success of the weekend, as well as the various tours during the OAA Conference, the Association will look at other opportunities to host an open house later this year.
