The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) has retained consulting engineers Jensen Hughes to lead a project to develop recommendations for what changes would be required to the Ontario Building Code and Ontario Fire Code to permit small residential buildings (up to four storeys, four units per floor) with a single exit stair and compensating safety measures. For context, a similar initiative is underway in British Columbia.
Architects interested in participating in this stakeholder engagement process are invited to submit their contact information and a brief description of their interest and relevant experience to Eddy LaRocque. Members may also wish to suggest clients or other industry professionals who may have technical insights into developing this type of building.
