OAAAS to be Integrated into the OAA

Joint Letter From Both Associations’ Presidents Shares Future Plans

For 18 years, suitably qualified technologists have been licensed by the Ontario Association of Architects as Licensed Technologists OAA, with rights and obligations analogous to other OAA members. During this time, the non-profit Ontario Association for Applied Architectural Sciences (OAAAS) has operated and administered the certification program—comprising education, work experience, and examinations (EEE)—that technologists must complete to achieve OAA licensure.

The OAAAS Board of Directors and OAA Council agreed it is now appropriate to dissolve OAAAS and to fully integrate the administration and operation of the program into the OAA. In December 2021, OAA President Susan Speigel and OAAAS President Rick Mateljan co-authored a message to members of the OAA community, offering the reasoning for the move and charting the path forward.
