On November 1, the OAA launched its new podcast that aims to bring the built environment closer to the general public and demystify the world of architecture.
Hosted by architect Ryan Schwartz, Architecturally Speaking explores the design and construction of various structures, from small homes to towering skyscrapers, while discussing how the built environment intersects with today’s pressing issues like climate change and housing. Through engaging interviews and insightful discussions, listeners will gain an inside look into the world of architecture that's often hidden away from public view.
After a teaser shared last month, two episodes were released yesterday with subsequent episodes appearing monthly. The inaugural episode, "Sustainable Architecture: Insights & Tips for Greener Homes," spotlights BDP Quadrangle architect Karl Van Es and the pivotal role sustainable design plays in helping us take climate action, while "Becoming an Architect: Many Paths, One Profession," shares the personal journeys toward licensure of newly licensed architects Vineetha Sivathasan and Joël León, offering invaluable insights for those considering a career in the field.
Future episodes, released each month, will cover a range of topics including innovative housing alternatives, accessibility in architecture, and designing for dignity in long-term care facilities. Share with your friends, clients, and colleagues!
