OAA Delivers Housing Recommendations at Queen’s Park

The OAA is pleased to see the introduction of Bill 109, More Homes for Everyone Act, 2022. As a key stakeholder, the OAA was asked to share its reaction to the legislation with an all-party standing committee of the Ontario legislature earlier this week.

The Association applauded the government for introducing measures that support innovations in design and construction, as well as innovations in the development approval process. Of particular note are changes to the site plan approval process, including requiring municipal councils to delegate site plan control decisions to municipal staff, increasing the approval timeline from 30 to 60 days, and then requiring municipalities to rebate application fees 50 per cent if the 60-day deadline is not met, another 25 per cent at the 90-day mark, and then the full fee by 120 days.
