Located in 14 communities across Ontario, the Local Architectural Societies are akin to the regional chapters of the OAA, providing opportunities for dialogue between local Architects and the wider design/construction community. The Societies work to raise the awareness, appreciation, and understanding of architecture within their communities. Many offer in-person or virtual events and other local resources.
Additionally, eligible tours offered by the Societies qualify for in-person Structural Learning. This recent change is retroactive to the start of the current Continuing Education reporting cycle, which began in July 2024. (Participants can make the revision in their transcripts.) Note: Only tours offered by OAA Societies are eligible; all other architectural tours remain considered Unstructured Learning.
You can join (or rejoin) a Society as part of your annual renewal process at the beginning of the year. If you have joined recently, it will take a few weeks for the update to make its way to the individual Societies. If you have opted out for 2025, please note that the final reconciliation between the OAA and the individual Societies will occur after April 30. If you are continuing to receive emails, or other information directly from the Society after that point, you can contact the Society Chair directly and ask to be removed from their mailing list.
