Gregg Alexander Gordon, Architect
1949 - May 11, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gregg Alexander Gordon, age 75, in his Selwyn, ON, home on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
He was a loving husband to Dr. Joan Himann/Gordon; father of Gillian (Dan) Mauro of Burlington and Maggie Williams (Nathaniel Clauser) of Lindsay; brother to Greer Gordon and Glenda Foley, both of St. Catharines; and devoted Poppa to Jacob and Mackenzie Mauro. He will be also missed by his in-laws, Maggie, Judi and Sandy Himann, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gregg had a successful architectural practice in Peterborough for 25 years, following an earlier tenure in Belleville. His passion for architecture emerged during his high school years at St. Catharines Collegiate. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Waterloo in 1972, laying the foundation for his successful career.
Gregg enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid tennis player and fan, and he also enjoyed playing bridge. He played football in high school and was a die-hard fan of the Hamilton TiCats! Beyond sports, Gregg became involved with Friends of Honduran Children with Grace United Church, and undertook many brigades to fix and build homes for orphaned children.
Both Gregg and Joan had a passion for travel, initially embarking on winter trips to enjoy skiing. However, they soon discovered the joys of travelling south during the winter months, developing a special love for the Dominican Republic.
Although he still worked hard, Gregg and Joan enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends at their home, that Gregg designed on the lake, affectionately referred to as “the cottage”.
In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate a donation to World Vision, Friends of Honduran Children or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
