The OAA is gearing up for the 2022 annual
Conference happening
May 11 – 13 under the theme of
Inspiring Climate Action. Registration will launch on
March 22 after a FREE virtual keynote presentation, sponsored by
HUB International Ontario Limited. Celebrated climate scientist, writer, and speaker,
Katharine Hayhoe, will share her take on the climate crisis and how she bridges the gap between science and stakeholders, starting at
1pm. The link will be shared with members on March 21–sign up to gain 1.0 hours of Structured Learning.
Plus, this year the OAA is offering three bonus pre-conference webinars to members and the public alike for $39 +HST ($29 for OAA Intern Architects, Technologists OAAAS, and Student Associates). These webinars earn participants 1.5 hours of Structured Learning.
“
Nature-Based Solutions & the Resilient City” (March 24) with
Jane Welsh and
Colleen Mercer Clarke, will offer an overview of Toronto’s use of nature-based solutions and the role of innovative, thoughtful landscape architecture. In “
Design in an Uncertain Climate” (April 7),
Peter Duckworth-Pilkington and
Jeff Mosher will address how to design for resilience and measures that can reduce carbon emitted during building construction and operation, with a specific focus on healthcare facilities. And finally, in “
Resilient Transit, Resilient Communities” (April 21),
Lisa D'Abbondanza and
Lindsey Kindrat will discuss sustainable design within the context of large-scale transit projects that connect or create communities.
