The federal government has announced it will participate in a global effort to decarbonize the cement and concrete sector, as outlined in a protocol called Cement and Concrete Breakthrough Priority Actions.

This follows the launch of the Cement and Concrete Breakthrough initiative, co-led by Canada and the United Arab Emirates, at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference in December 2023, stated a release.

Priority actions centre on five themes.
