From design development to general review, CSA standards are used to ensure design and construction meet regulatory and building code requirements. In support of its mandate to serve the public interest, the OAA provides free viewing access for all members (i.e. Architects) to a collection of all CSA standards referenced in Ontario’s Building Code and the National Building Code of Canada (NBC). For more on eligibility, how to register or renew, and to review the user guides, visit the OAA Website.
Further, CSA has developed free Standards Support Tools intended to help users to apply specific requirements and recommendations from the CSA standards. For example, under the Construction and Infrastructure Standards category, support tools can be found related to CSA’s modular construction standards and CSA A440.4:19 Window, Door and Skylight Installation.
While interest in modular construction grows, CSA Group also offers a free self-paced online training course, “Modular Construction Projects – Delivery, Certification, Approvals Processes.” This course reviews the stages of modular construction processes, best practices, general information, guidelines, and relevant standards. A certificate of completion is provided for this two-hour course.
