The OAA will soon be inviting submissions for its biennial Awards program that showcases, to both the profession and the public, the best in built projects by Ontario practices and in achievements by architects. The call for entries will open next month and close in January.
Up to 10 Design Excellence Awards will be chosen by a jury announced later this year. Any form of built architecture created by members of the OAA, located anywhere in the world, completed since January 2018 and currently in use are eligible.
Additionally, the new OAA Medal of Service recognizes individuals who have provided exceptional contributions and leadership to the profession and/or public through promotion, advocacy, education, or other achievements. This honour is a continued evolution of the now-sunset G. Randy Roberts Service Award and Order of da Vinci.
Other awards this year include:
-Best Emerging Practice (a young firm demonstrating clear vision, well-articulated goals, and proven effective strategies);
-Lifetime Design Achievement (an architect with a career-long commitment to the promotion and achievement of architectural design excellence); and
-Honour Roll (prominent members of the profession who are now deceased).
