AZURE Magazine’s editorial team has released its 2025 list of anticipated architecture projects, which looks to celebrate designs that shape global discourse and enrich communities. Among the featured projects are two Canadian efforts that stand out for their cultural and social significance.
The Thunder Bay Art Gallery, designed by
Patkau Architects and
Brook McIlroy, will transform the Thunder Bay waterfront into a 3,484-square-metre cultural hub. Highlighting Indigenous art, the gallery blends seamlessly with the natural landscape, fostering connections between the community and its heritage.
Meanwhile, the University of Toronto Scarborough Indigenous House, crafted by
Formline Architecture and
LGA Architectural Partners, provides a dedicated space for Indigenous students, faculty, and staff. Its design honours Indigenous traditions, emphasizing storytelling and cultural practices while promoting inclusivity and community-building.
