Applied Architecture Landscape and Design at UofT (AALD) invites you to participate in their annual DESIGNATHON running ONLINE from February 17-21, 2025!
For this year’s AALD Bioregional Materials Challenge, students across the GTA will work in teams to combat the Toronto housing crisis. With a theme of ‘Reappropriating the Garage’, designers are tasked to repurpose pre-existing backyard structures and material exploration to address local carbon footprint issues.
This competition is open to students in groups of 2-4 from any affiliated campus, school, background, level, and interest. An introductory briefing session on materials and competition objectives will be held on the 17th of February, 2025.
This year, in addition to a generous prize pool, all participants are invited to their reception after the week of DESIGNATHON to celebrate everyone’s hardwork and ingenuity.
The 2025 jury includes esteemed professionals from John H. Daniels Faculty, KPMB, and the Climate Design Initiative.
Create your group and
sign up here by Friday, February 14.
