Do you Have a great idea for a tour in Toronto? The OAA wants to hear from you!
The OAA is now soliciting tour proposals for possible inclusion in its 2022 Conference, taking place from May 11 to 13, in Toronto at the Beanfield Centre. We are looking for unique and informative tours that will engage and educate the audience, while also speaking to the event's theme, "Inspiring Climate Action."
Conference tours can be architectural or recreational in nature--the goal is to show attendees what the host city has to offer in terms of new architectural or heritage projects, along with exciting or informative attractions or excursions. Tours can be offered in-person or virtually. Architectural tours can also provide Continuing Education opportunities for the membership.
All tours submitted will be reviewed by the OAA Communications Committee for approval and may be grouped together with other similar projects. If you are interested in this opportunity, please forward proposals to Brooke Baker, Moore Carlyle Consulting, by Friday, December 10, 2021.
- Tours will be held on May 11 to 13, 2022 within the Conference program.
- Tours are expected to be 45 minutes in duration (not including travel time).
- Tours can be offered in person or virtually.
- Due to schedule limitations, the OAA will not be able to consider project locations that have a one-way travel time greater than 45 minutes from the Beanfield Centre (105 Princes' Blvd, Toronto, ON M6K 3C3).
- Architectural tours may include buildings (commercial or residential), neighbourhoods, community projects, and any other built spaces.
- Recreational tours can include buildings, neighbourhoods, attractions, parks, and boat, bike, or bus rides and excursions.
- Exposure to Ontario's architecture profession and the greater design community.
- Networking opportunities with OAA members and allied professionals.
- Complimentary tickets to selected Conference social events.
- Eligibility to receive Continuing Education learning hours.
- Description: Provide a brief description of the concept of the tour/project and the location/address of the tour. (What will be included in the tour? What makes this tour/project unique?)
- Duration: What is the length of the tour? All tours will depart from and return to the Beanfield Centre (105 Princes' Blvd, Toronto, ON M6K 3C3), but travel time need not to be factored into your total tour estimation.
- Format: What is the format of the tour? Will it be offered in person or virtually?
- Time of Day: Is this tour only available at a particular time of day or is the timing flexible?
- Transportation: What is the best mode of transportation for the tour?
- Physical Challenges: Does the tour have any specific physical challenges, such as a lot of walking or biking?
- Special Requirements: Does the tour have any special requirements (e.g. projects under construction would require hard hats and construction boots)?
- Min/Max: What are the minimum and maximum number of participants?
- Costs: Are there any costs associated with the tour?
- Tour Leader Experience: Please provide a short bio of the proposed tour leaders, including any designations and their current job titles.
- Tour Leader Contact Information: Please provide full contact details for each of the tour leaders (office number, cell number, email)
