2022 Celebration of Excellence

This year’s Celebration of Excellence was hosted by Amber Mac (The Feed, The AI Effect, The AmberMac Show) at the Toronto Event Center on Thursday May 12. In addition to the eight Design Excellence Award winners announced earlier this year, special recognition was given to the following four projects for their outstanding achievements:

Hariri Pontarini Architects’ Tom Patterson Theatre won for People’s Choice Award;
Lebel & Bouliane Inc.’s Clearview Public Library, Stayner Branch and DTAH Architects Limited’s Tommy Thompson Park Pavilion received the Michael V. and Wanda Plachta Award, which honours architectural excellence for projects in Ontario that cost no more than $8 million (the first tie in the award’s history!); and
RDH Architects Inc.’s Springdale Library and Komagata Maru Park received the biennial Lieutenant Governor's Award for Design Excellence in Architecture, selected from among the finalists of the OAA Design Excellence Awards, and considered by an expert jury to have shown excellence in creativity, context, sustainability, good business, and legacy.

The event also included a pre-recorded video by Her Honour, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

Following the Celebration of Excellence, the OAA hosted a fun-filled Archifȇte event at the Toronto Event Center, with a live DJ and inspired food stations.
