OAA AGM Hosted Hybrid for First Time
The OAA hosted its first-ever hybrid Annual General Meeting of Members (AGM) on Thursday May 12, welcoming members both to Beanfield Centre in downtown Toronto and to a virtual platform for those wishing to participate in the meeting remotely. In addition to items of business, the event allowed the chance for Ontario’s architecture profession to honour eight new members of Long Standing—individuals who have been practising as OAA members for more than 50 years! They included:
• Medhat Abdou;
• Tonu Altosaar;
• Louis E.J. Cooke;
• Roger E. Fennell;
• E. George Kneider;
• Desmond Roychaudhuri;
• Leonard Sedun; and
• Allan J. Stone.
Past members of OAA Council were also presented with Certificates of Appreciation. This year’s recipients were:
• Heather Breeze;
• Donald Chen;
• Barry Cline;
• Gord Erskine;
• Kathleen Kurtin;
• Jeff Laberge; and
• Agata Mancini.
At the AGM, OAA President Susan Speigel spoke on the activities of the past year, particularly with respect to climate action and efforts related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Settimo Vilardi, OAA Senior Vice President & Treasurer, presented the 2021 Financial Statements as well as the 2022 Financial Outlook. The OAA also shared more about its strategic plan being enacted over the next five years.
