TIME: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
The McEwen School of Architecture Evolve Builders Group are co-hosting a Passive Buildings Canada conference called 'Boots on the Ground' at the McEwen School of Architecture on May 21st from 6-10 pm. Passive Buildings Canada is a national non-profit advocacy organization supporting the Passive House community to build a more sustainable Canada and planet. There are other annual events in Toronto, Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, Calgary and now, for the first time, in Sudbury.
High-Performance Design Meets "Boots on the Ground," this is a free, though invite-only event that brings together 60-100 tradespeople, suppliers, academics and professionals from the design and construction field to share, explore ideas, network, and learn about great products that help produce high-performance, low-carbon buildings. The event includes free appetizers and drinks (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic), which can be enjoyed while viewing the mini-tradeshow or networking, all sandwiched around three 20-minute curated speaker presentations (7-8 pm). Attendance certificates will be issued, and the event can be counted towards structured continuing education hours for OAA members.
The presentations include:
MSoA Professor Steven Beites on Low-Carbon Prefab Assemblies and Automated Construction; Michael & Anastasia Renaud on their locally built Passive Principled Single-Family Home; and from Mitsubishi & Northern Climate on their Cold-Climate Air Source Heat Pump systems they are now installing in Northern Ontario.
