TSA Technical Series: Proposed Changes to Part 3 of the 2024 OBC

TIME: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST

Did you know a new edition of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) is expected to be released early this year? The biggest overhaul since its introduction in 1975, the 2024 edition is anticipated to contain approximately 2,400 changes and further harmonize this provincial document with National Construction Codes. Get a head start on familiarizing yourself with this new edition at this 1-hour webinar reviewing some of the proposed changes to Part 3, “Fire Protection, Occupant Safety and Accessibility.”

Intended for those already familiar with the OBC, this virtual session with Rhiannon Todd of CodeNext will provide attendees with a high-level summary and discussion of the changes that have been proposed by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) in preparation for the new code edition.

Topics will include:
- New occupancy types and definitions
- Technical changes with impact on building design such as building construction materials, interconnected floor space protection, and mezzanine design to align with the 2020 National Building Code of Canada (NBC),
- Technical changes to the application and design of fire and life safety systems to align with the NBC, and
- Ontario-only changes related to the design of public pools and rapid-transit stations.

Cost:
$15+HST General Admission, FREE for TSA Members!
