Join the Economic Development Department at the City of Hamilton, Hamilton Sustainability Professionals Network (SPN) and McMaster's Academic Sustainability Programs Office for the third Community-based Leadership in Sustainability (CLS) educational and networking event.
The event will be moderated by Graham McNally, co-founder of the architectural office Toms + McNally Design based in Hamilton. Attendees will hear from three great speakers and local experts:
Richard W. Allen, Director, The Renew Hamilton Project, Hamilton Chamber of Commerce
At the 2010 Hamilton Economic Summit, keynote speaker Storm Cunningham declared Hamilton's potential role as the "urban regeneration capital of Canada." His words - received by established and emerging renewal leaders alike as a worthy challenge - helped mark the beginning of a new era of local revitalization, particularly in our lower city and waterfront. Richard's presentation will help answer: How far have we come and what lies ahead on the road to renewal?
David Premi, Principal, david premi Architects inc
David's presentation will focus on Hamilton Renewal: Leading by Design. Hamilton is currently faced with a unique opportunity. Sustainability, Innovation, and Entrepreneurialism are key Design issues that must be embraced to make the city a North American leader in Urban Regeneration.
Judy Lam, Senior Business Development Consultant, City of Hamilton
Judy's presentation will highlight some of the key projects in downtown Hamilton leading to a revitalization of the area and explain some of the innovative programs available that were used to encourage redevelopment such as the ERASE Brownfields programs.
