Engineering Vegetated Roof Systems to Optimize Stormwater Management

TIME: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET

In this webinar, participants will learn how vegetated roofs mimic nature, restore hydrologic cycle and mitigate stormwater challenges in our cities. We will discuss two key mechanisms – retention and detention – and their importance in stormwater management. We will explore innovative products and design strategies to maximize stormwater management capacities in green roofs. Common detention methods both at grade and on roof will be compared and participants will learn to select the best option based on specific project needs. Finally, participants will learn to design a stormwater management green roof with the help of an online green roof modeler.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Distinguish between retention and detention in stormwater management.
2. Recognize the importance of detention in stormwater management in urban centres.
3. Select best detention option at grade and on roofs based on project requirements.
4. Apply a multidisciplinary approach in designing green roof for stormwater management.
