Bruce King and John Straube have both been seminal figures in the testing and codification of natural building materials in a modern context.
Based in California, Bruce King has headed the Ecological Building Network www.ecobuildnetwork.org for many years, providing much of essential testing work that has been done on straw bale and earthen building systems, and operating his own design firm.
Based in Waterloo, John Straube’s work at the University of Waterloo and with BuildingScience.com has advanced our understanding of building performance and in particular moisture movement in building enclosures.
Together they will present a three-part seminar examining why and how to select, design and use natural building materials in a modern context:
- Alternative Materials & Systems – The state of the art
- Getting it Permitted – Alternative building materials and the codes
- Integrative Design – The art of cat herding
If you’ve been curious about natural building systems, there is no better opportunity to learn from the experts!
