• lecture: World Architecture Day Series - POV: Brigitte Shim and Siamak Hariri
EDIT's World Architecture Day series brings together a collection of local and international architects to speak about their practice. Shim-Sutcliffe world with the Mnjinkaning Fish fence Circle on a bridge and gathering place that marks the spot at the Narrows between Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe where First Nations have gathered for sacred ceremonies for many generations. Complimenting Shim, Siamak Hariri will discuss how we create meaningful spaces and explore what it means to inhabit thoughtful places and the future of architecture with a focus on his recent Bahai temple in Chile.

EDIT's World Architecture Day series brings together a collection of local and international architects to speak about their practice. Prix de Rome winner Heather Dubbeldam will explore the latest in eco-friendly design, from buildings to cities. Andrew Grant, from Grant Associates, the architecture firm behind Singapore's Gardens by the Bay project, will discuss how nature and technology can come together in radically new ways to improve our urban spaces.

Join Derek Goring, Daniel Jongtien, Noortje Heege and Brad Keast as they discuss the future of urban planning. Derek Goring is responsible for leading the development project for East Harbour, formerly the Unilever Soap Factory. Goring, in conversation with dutch architect Heege from Benthem Crouwel, and Osmington's Bread Keast will discuss the future of our cities and public spaces.
• lecture: into the Culture Cave
Join EDIT for the launch of Jorn Weisbrodt's new book Into the Culture Cave: Generator of Art and Community, emotions and Ideas. This panel discussion will be informed by Weisbrodt's book, which outlines the immense production challenges Luminato undertook at the Hearn generating station in 2016. With fellow panelists Anthony Sargent (CEO, Luminato), Clyde Wagner (Executive Producer, Luminato), Jack Diamond (Principal at Diamond Schmitt Architects), and November Paynter (Director of Programs, MOCA) this talk will use Weisbrodt's new book as a jumping off point to discuss his idea of the "Culture Cave" and how Toronto's arts institutions are engaging with idle urban spaces. A book signing will follow this talk in the EDIT X Library on the 4th floor.

French architect Odile Decq, recipient of the 2017 Jane Drew prize, is known for both her goth-like appearance and her dramatic architecture, including the Musuem of Conetmporary Art in Rome, the restaurant for Paris' Opera Garnier and FRAC Bretagne, Decq is also founder of Confluence, a new school of architecture in Lyon that merges various disciplines and points to the future of the practice.
