Time: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET
Architects, engineers and builders are realising the potential of 100% Wood Dowel Laminated Timber (DLT) as a healthy, sustainable and energy efficient building product. This session explores the truly sustainable nature of Dowel Laminated Timber (DLT) and the health benefits gained when building with natural solid wood, and the exclusion of glue and nails. With the focus on mass timber applications for single family homes and smaller work and living spaces, we share the different types of Dowel Laminated Timber (DLT), show case studies of how the types of DLT can be used, show how it’s produced and present learnings on health, sustainability, energy efficiency and structural integrity of DLT.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understanding Dowel Laminated Timber (DLT) as a mass timber option, the different types of DLT and how they are Produced
2. Understand the optimal applications and limitations of each type of DLT and the structural considerations
3. Be in a position to integrate the appropriate type of DLT application into a single family home or small work setting design, and be in
a position to work with a DLT manufacturer at a more informed and knowledgeable level
4. Gain a deeper knowledge of the specific health and sustainability benefits of DLT
