To compete globally, large Canadian cities need to be attractive – and part of that involves being good at place making. As a relatively young country, Canada must develop a place making urbanism that enhances city identities, allows places to change, guides places as they evolve, and knowingly intervenes at a fine grain, in order to produce the kind of memorable places that draw people to its cities, foster an attachment to them, and inspire those who inhabit them.
This summit will examine Canada’s progress and innovation in place-making from coast to coast and in Ottawa-Gatineau.
