Registration Form - Ottawa

The date for all architectural practices to comply with the requirements of the AODA Accessible Customer Service Regulation is fast approaching. The government is also getting ready to implement the AODA Integrated Accessibility Regulation which could have an impact on the employment practices, information systems and communication methods used in your practice. Furthermore, a final proposed Accessible Built Environment Standard has been presented to the Government for consideration, as Ontario moves towards the integration of enhanced accessibility requirements into the Ontario Building Code.

This session will update architects’ on the status of the various Ontario Regulations that are being developed under the AODA. Where Regulation has been enacted, compliance obligations for architectural practices will be reviewed, along with implementation timeframes.

The session will also introduce some of the resources available to architects’ to assist with the implementation of their AODA obligations – including the launching of Accessible Information and Communication: A Guide for Small Business, a resource developed by the Ontario Association of Architects, in partnership with the Global Alliance for Accessible Technologies and Environments (GAATES) and the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO), through funding from the Government of Ontario’s EnAbling Change program.
