APT – National Trust for Canada Joint Conference 2017

Join over 800 of your peers from around the globe at Canada’s largest heritage conservation conference in a generation. Ottawa is the place to be for the Canadian Confederation’s 150th anniversary celebrations.  Embracing the historic opportunity, the Association for Preservation Technology International and the National Trust for Canada have joined forces to create CAPITALizing on HERITAGE, expected to be the largest ever gathering of conservation practitioners and advocates in Canada.  Conservators, architects, engineers, heritage planners, craftspeople, policy makers, construction managers, cultural landscape specialists, and strong community voices will come together to share and showcase the best in technology, policy, means and methods for preserving and renewing heritage buildings, districts and engineering works.

Architects will find rich opportunities for professional development with seven tracks of concurrent sessions on such topics as conservation materials and technology, sustainability, architecture and reconciliation, and strategies for adaptive reuse.  Join expert workshops and field sessions on heritage masonry and mortars, log and timber frame, digital tools for documentation and diagnostics, and much more.

The National Trust for Canada is a national charity created in 1973 that inspires and leads action to save historic places, and promotes the care and wise use of our historic environment.

Launched in 1968, the Association for Preservation Technology International (APT) is a cross-disciplinary membership organization dedicated to promoting the best technology for conserving historic structures and their settings.
