2012 Ontario Building Code – Fire Protection/Life Safety

The 2012 Ontario Building Code (OBC) regulation came into effect on January 1, 2014.  This updated regulation contains a number of important changes in regards to fire protection and life safety requirements. Participants will be provided with an overview of the changes within OBC Division B, Part 3 “Fire Protection, Occupant Safety & Accessibility” affecting buildings and floor areas within the context of new construction as well as renovations and changes of use.  Focus discussions will include review and illustration of select primary OBC changes (e.g. exit signage, suite egress door locations) and their practical application.
