My quick watercolour and pencil crayon sketches demonstrate a low-cost method for shading apartment units, particularly for west-facing facades. The planters can be DIY sub-irrigated reservoir planters.
I believe these low-tech, passive solar ideas can be implemented en-masse, in times of climate chaos. I have reached out to various organizations in Toronto about these ideas but still to no avail. It is vital for city authorities and high-rise residential building management to embrace and endorse these urban agriculture initiatives, empowering resilient local communities in the face of imminent global climate disruption.
