Sketching on airplanes and at airports has become a zen experience for me. As my architectural practice expands outside of Chicago, I'm often stuck on flights. During the pandemic, flying was stressful – so I pulled out my sketchbook and fell into the joy of my right brain. Now, I look forward to flying – working out fishbowl perspectives; drawing people who look at tablets, phones, laptops, books, and magazines; and sketching myself sketching.
