The following images are a series of study sketches done for a condo development and a mall redevelopment.
They reflect the importance of sketching as part of the design process, where quick iterative hand sketches help to get ideas and concepts flowing. Typically, when faced with a new design challenge, I begin with a sketch plan to come up with a general direction for the project. From here I quickly dive into a 3D mode to visualize the concept and further explore opportunities, as well as to flush out key issues. Once I have confirmed the viability of a concept I will share the sketches with my team and client group for discussion and buy-in. Hand sketching gets the design process moving quickly and efficiently before we invest digital time into a project.
