At the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on April 11, the Association honoured its newest Members of Long Standing—individuals who have reached the milestone of 50 years of membership with the OAA as part of Ontario’s architecture profession. Among recipients this year was Peter E. Peltekoff.
Peter, serving as Partner Emeritus at ARK and Petroff Architects, has been a pivotal figure in the firm's growth since having joined in 1983. His career at Petroff is marked by his management of a complex portfolio of projects and client groups focused on boosting the firm's presence both domestically and internationally. Throughout his tenure, Peter has cultivated enduring professional relationships with some of Canada's leading developers, a testament to his dedication and expertise in the field of architecture.
Prior to joining Petroff, Peter gained valuable experience at Crang & Boake Architects from 1969 to 1983, where he honed his skills in handling complex architectural projects. This position followed a formative year at John B. Parkin & Associates from 1968 to 1969, setting the foundation for his illustrious career.
Throughout his career, Peter has shown exceptional leadership in directing large-scale, mixed-use projects across Canada, which have not only contributed significantly to the nation’s built environment, but have also earned him industry-wide recognition. His collaborative efforts with global design teams have led to several award-winning international developments, including the Dong Hai Commercial Capital and Yin-Du Commercial Tower buildings in Shanghai, China.
Peter's academic journey began at the Ryerson Institute of Technology (now Toronto Metropolitan University), where he graduated in 1964, followed by further studies at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1968.
