The phase 1 administrative wing of the Williams Parkway Operation Centre set a new precedent for architectural quality in its typology and setting. A soon-to-be constructed second phase comprising additional offices, workshops, storage and a works yard will seamlessly link to the building and will complete a composition of staggered volumes tied together with a double-height wood-lined linear atrium.
Communicating transparency, lightness and efficiency in its formal approach, the design promotes employee well-being, collaboration between departments and efficient interfacing with the public. The project will be LEED Gold certified.
Jury Comments
The jury remarked that this could have easily been a very anonymous building, but the architect has turned it into something very positive. This project had a very strong exterior expression -- so strong in fact, that when one of the jury members drove by, he pulled over, stopped and checked out the building. It is simple and bold.
