Until December 19, you can review proposed changes to the 2020 editions of the National Model Codes. As detailed by the Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes (CBHCC), topics include climatic loads, residential energy efficiency, and accessibility. CBHCC is asking Architects and others in the code community to look at the proposed technical changes, comment on whether they should be approved, altered, or withdrawn, and offer feedback on updates to documents referenced in the National Model Codes.
In addition to updates to reference documents, the proposed changes include:
- National Building Code of Canada (NBC): fenestration, building envelope, and greenhouse gas emissions;
- National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings: performance compliance for energy modelling software requirements and exceptional calculation methods; and
- National Fire Code of Canada: encapsulated mass timber construction.
To learn more about the proposed changes or get instructions on how to submit comments, visit the CBHCC site.
