Public Review of Proposed Changes to 2020 National Model Codes

As advised in the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH)’s CodeNews 356 (May 29, 2024) as well as by the Regulatory Registry, the Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes (CBHCC) invites the public to take part in the Spring 2024 public review of the proposed changes to the 2020 editions of the National Model Codes. The deadline to submit feedback is July 29, 2024.

 

The proposed changes encompass a wide variety of topics, including climatic loads, residential energy efficiency, and accessibility. To learn more about the proposed changes, and how to comment, click here.

As future changes to the Ontario codes will come through the National Model Codes, members are encouraged to bookmark the CBHCC landing page and learn more about Canada’s National Model Codes and how they are developed, submit code change requests, become familiar with the code review process, and find information about upcoming board and committee meetings.
