More Homes Built Faster Act Becomes Law

On November 28, Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022 passed third reading and received Royal Assent. This sweeping legislation has been touted as another step that the government is taking to address housing affordability in Ontario, but there are numerous unintended consequences of the Bill, including environmental degradation, losses to rental housing protection, and expanded opportunities for sprawl development.

Last month, OAA President Susan Speigel wrote to the Standing Committee on Heritage, Infrastructure, and Cultural Policy to confirm the Association's recommendations on Bill 23. You can read the letter on the OAA’s Government Relations Portal.
