The City of Hamilton is seeking nine experienced architects or other design professionals to join its Design Review Panel (DRP) as volunteer members for the 2025 –2028 term.
Established as a pilot project in 2014, the DRP has played a crucial role in advising city planning staff on various urban design matters. Although the panel does not have the authority to approve projects, its members provide valuable feedback on the aesthetic and physical impacts of proposed developments, landscape designs, and infrastructure projects, while promoting unique design solutions. As the city continues to evolve, the panel's input will become increasingly vital to shaping a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing built environment.
Candidates for the DRP must possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and be registered members in good standing of their respective professional associations. Experience in municipal planning, large-scale urban revitalization, and sustainable development is essential. The volunteer panel is open to urban designers, architects, landscape architects, planners, heritage specialists, and green technology experts eager to contribute to the city's urban design landscape.
The four-year term begins in January 2025, with meetings held monthly. Interested individuals are encouraged to email their CV, a cover letter, and a brief statement on their interest in the role, with the subject line ‘Design Review Panel’ by October 18, to Jana Kelemen, manager of heritage and urban design.
