The Ontario Association of Architects will once again be opening its Headquarters for Doors Open Toronto, where visitors can explore Toronto’s architectural, historical, cultural and socially significant buildings for free the weekend of May 25 + 26. This year’s theme is hidden histories— uncover untold stories from across the city through a variety of open house experiences, engaging tours, and insightful talks.
This year, the OAA Headquarters will feature a special exhibition of imaginative design submissions to the OAA’s Landscape Design Competition, alongside Paper City, a family-friendly activity hosted by the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA). Folks of all ages can come and learn more about city-building through this community art piece assembled from participant-designed buildings. Families will work with a variety of printed templates to cut, colour, and fold together to create their own unique structures, from detached houses to skyscrapers. The creations are then combined to make one large paper metropolis!
Visitors are welcome to explore the main and second floors of the building at their leisure, with volunteers on-site to answer questions. Access to the third floor offices is restricted unless guests are accompanied by a staff member during a tour. Photos welcome!
Building tour times: 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM
